Kelly Shires she lost her long battle with breast cancer in October 2004 but her memory & spirit were kept strong this past weekend. The enthusiasm was remarkable as over
120 women suited up on February 3, 2007 to participate in this year’s event. The day started off beautifully with a greeting from Reeve, Murray Ferring and a moment of silence in memory of those who have lost their battle with breast cancer. The ladies then headed off on the trails. This exhilarating event was held at the beautiful Delta Pinestone Resort in Haliburton, Ontario. The trails were challenging as each team traveled their designated route to Harcourt to enjoy their lunch hosts – The South Algonquin Cookhouse, graciously greeted by John Bauer and staff. Many thanks for the thoughtful and wonderful hospitality of Delta Pinestone staff and also the staff of the South Algonquin Cookhouse whose extra special efforts did not go unnoticed.
The ladies completed the ride of challenging trails in the afternoon arriving back at Pinestone Resort. The closing ceremonies consisted of group dining, awards, auctions and awards, with Emcee Leslie Davis. “The weekend was filled with many emotions in remembering those we lost to breast cancer and those who fight it every day” says Cayley, “What a wonderful honour it is to be riding to help women in their battle against breast cancer”. Stay tuned for details for our 9th annual Snow Run taking place February 2008.
